App

Thunderbird for Android

App version

latest

Where did you get the app from?

F-Droid

Android version

15

Device model

No response

Steps to reproduce

Paste URL from clipboard, eg. https://mozilla.org/, it is transformed to <https://mozilla.org/>.

Expected behavior

Just leave the pasted text as it is.

Previously the behaviour was correct.

I don't understand why there are brackets added. But in some email software this causes the URLs to no longer be clickable.

Actual behavior

Pasted URL is modified to be surrounded by brackets: <https://mozilla.org/>

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue in Thunderbird for Android by pasting https://mozilla.org/ into the message composition text field, then trace the paste handling for URL text. Done means pasted URLs remain unchanged rather than being surrounded by angle brackets, while normal message composition behavior still works.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.
