Unable to open mega menu from navbar on hover

While it is possible to assign data-dropdown-trigger="hover" to a button to trigger a simple dropdown inside the navbar it doesn't work for the mega menu item.

Expected to work:

Start with the navbar mega menu example and the data-dropdown-trigger="hover" and data-collapse-toggle attributes shown in the issue. Compare its behavior with the linked simple navbar dropdown, then verify that hovering the mega menu item opens it as expected.
