Description
This was mentioned a few times already but here's the first step to make it official. The Stronghold Plugin is deprecated and will not be developed further. The upstream `stronghold` rust crate has multiple issues and has been unmaintained for a long time. Also, there really aren't (m)any use-cases for stronghold in tauri and those few use-cases can still use stronghold in Rust.
**The plugin will not be available in Tauri v3**
The current plan is to have a replacement using OS keychains and potentially some encryption methods.
In the meantime you can keep using the stronghold plugin, or use one of the many community keychain/keyring plugins (we cannot vouch for any so i'm not linking them here).
If you currently use the stronghold plugin for something that is unsuitable for the keychain based alternative, please tell us about your use-case and we'll see what we can do!

This issue is a deprecation announcement for the Stronghold Plugin and names no files, tests, or implementation entry points. Read the issue body and ask maintainers about affected use cases and the planned OS-keychain replacement; there is no defined code change or completion criterion yet.
