Description
The arviz team present their InferenceData format at StanCon this year and I wanted to open this issue as a reminder to discuss whether posterior should support this format as well. The format design can be found at https://arviz-devs.github.io/arviz/notebooks/XarrayforArviZ.html

Research direction
Start by reading the linked ArviZ InferenceData format design and the posterior repository's existing data-format support. No files or tests are named, and the issue asks first whether support should be pursued, so a maintainer decision and defined scope are needed before implementation can be considered done.
