Description

Currently if a user is segmenting two matrices where they assign from one to the other they have to write regular slicing on the assigned matrix. It would be nice if one could assign to a segmented matrix as in the title.

Research direction

Start by locating the C++ implementation and tests for segment on matrices, then inspect how regular slicing supports assignment between matrices. Define completion as allowing segment(matrix X, a, b) = segment(matrix Y, w, z) while preserving existing segment behavior and test coverage.
