Bug Description

Steps to Reproduce
  1. start the dev server or the app on linux
  2. go to settings
  3. go to the version tab
Expected Behavior
  • on linux, the auto update feature is not visible at all
  • regardless, when it is visible, switching it should actually do somethign, or at least report an error if it failed
Actual Behavior
  • auto update controller is visible even though there is no auto-update on Linux
  • switching it says "auto update disabled", shows no error but the toggle component stays enabled no matter how many times I click it

Research direction

Start in the settings version tab, reproducing the behavior on Linux by launching the dev server or app and toggling auto-update. Trace the auto-update controller from that entry point and verify that Linux hides it, while any visible toggle changes state or reports an error.
