Description

This is a follow-up from #514. Fixing it "properly" would require changing the format from ${NAME}_PORT to PORT_${NAME}, which may break some environments.

We should at least keep this in mind when changing the format in the future.

Research direction

Start by reading the referenced follow-up issue #514 and tracing how sidecar port names are converted into environment-variable names. The issue does not identify files or tests; work would be complete only after deciding whether a format change is safe for existing environments and addressing the digit-prefixed-name crash.
