Description
The FSImage contains the most critical metadata in the whole HDFS cluster.
As an administrator of HDFS I'd like guidance on how to keep this metadata safe even in the event of a failure.
This could be in the form of docs explaining where this data is stored and how it might be backed up.
We can, however, also offer a more integrated solution that somehow automatically backs the data up.

Research direction
Start by reading the issue's FSImage and HDFS backup requirements, then determine whether the expected outcome is documentation or an integrated backup solution. Done should mean a defined scope and either clear guidance on FSImage storage and backup or an agreed implementation plan; no files or tests are named.
