Description
E.g. the projection extension update in a breaking way, so there's stuff in the wild in both versions. We should gracefully handle these cases. This will probably either be through a migration or through an enum.

Research direction
Start by reviewing how the projection extension is represented and compare the breaking changes between its versions. Decide whether migration or an enum fits the existing model, then verify that data using both versions is handled gracefully.
