Linux "|" pipe not working at all

Description
when i use renci.sshnet to create command with pipes eg:
dim cmd = client.CreateCommand("dmesg | grep -i usb")
i get a full dmesg result without the pipe, while it works perfectly fine in putty. what am i doing wrong?
