Description

Migrated issue, originally created by spanosgeorge

Hello, if I'm reading correctly the source code, right now alembic doesn't support running ALTER ONLINE TABLE DDL statements. Correct?

If indeed that's the case, are there plans to support it in the future?

Relevant documentation from MySQL: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/alter-table-online-operations.html

Research direction

No files or tests are named. Start by reviewing Alembic's operation APIs and the MySQL/MariaDB online-operations documentation, then trace how operation keyword arguments are handled. Done should be defined as a reviewed approach for supporting online migration statements, with tests identified for the affected operations.
