Unauthorized response with XMLHttpRequest header

I use Spring Boot with Spring Security basic authentication. When i send request with wrong password, i'll receive normal error message in body:

But when i add additional header X-Requested-With: XMLHttpRequest to the request, i'll receive only status 401 and no body.

Start with the linked XMLHttpRequest sample and reproduce the two requests, comparing the response with and without the X-Requested-With header. Trace Spring Security's handling of the basic-authentication failure and verify that both requests return the expected 401 response body.
