Description

Trying to use the internationalization of Link title feature I get issue with a multi-module project structure.

All my ".properties" files are in a module named i18n and controller and all other stuffs are in a module named api.

The issue:

If I put the rest-messages.properties in i18n/src/main/resources the file is not found in the HateoasConfiguration#lookupMessageSource() method and the noOp impl is used.

Workaround:
  • Put the rest-messages.properties in api/src/main/resources
  • Put a rest-default-messages.properties and rest-messages.properties in i18n/src/main/resources

A sample project can be found here

Research direction

Start with HateoasConfiguration#lookupMessageSource() and reproduce the multi-module setup from the linked sample project, with properties under i18n/src/main/resources and controllers under api. The work is complete when the lookup can be overridden or configured so rest-messages.properties is found in the separate i18n module without the duplicate-file workaround.
