excerptProjection not applied when defined on repository for abstract type [DATAREST-1124]

Setup

Have inheritance (Animal -> Dog, Cat) in your model.

2. Define AnimalRepository as

@Repository
@RepositoryRestResource(excerptProjection = AnimalProjection.class)
public interface AnimalRepository extends CrudRepository<Animal, Long> {
}

1. Have a Person which has @OneToMany List<Animal> animals and corresponding repository for persons.

Expected

When accessing /persons endpoint the defined excerpt projection is applied to _embedded collection of animals

Actual

The projection is not applied.

Note

Please see the attached project on GitHub. The Person has @OneToMany of Animal (demonstrates inheritance) and @OneToMany of Hobby (no inheritance). The excerpt projection is applied to hobbies but not to animals.

Affects: 2.6.6 (Ingalls SR6)
