Description
Recent community PRs have been sitting with no action even after successful status checks. Let's create a .github/CODEOWNERS file which can auto tag the repo owners as reviewers so we know who to message to get help/expedited reviews in the case of Security Hotfix and even general PRs.
Contributor guide
First steps
- Read the whole issue, then the project's contributing guide.
- Comment on the issue to say you are picking it up — it saves two people doing the same work.
- Fork the repository and make your change on a branch.
- Open a pull request that references the issue number.
Research direction
Start with the requested .github/CODEOWNERS file and review GitHub's CODEOWNERS behavior for required approvals and reviewer tagging. Define ownership coverage for security hotfixes and general pull requests, then verify that matching community PRs request the intended repository owners.
