Description

  • Applies only to "local" apps (not e.g. spin up --bindle)
  • ./.spin/up.toml is searched for "next to" spin.toml
  • If the default doesn't exist, there is no error (unlike --runtime-config-file missing.toml)

Research direction

Start by locating the --runtime-config-file handling in the Spin CLI and trace how local apps find spin.toml. Done means local apps default to ./.spin/up.toml next to spin.toml, tolerate its absence, and leave non-local apps and explicitly missing paths unchanged.
