Description

There is apparently no way to indicate trust for private certificate authorities (Electrum 4.1.2 client). I'm not sure what list of CAs Electrum is implicitly trusting, but I tried to no avail:

  • Adding the CA pem to /etc/ssl/certs
  • Searching GUI for trust dialogs
  • Searching support command line options
  • Searching documentation

Next I'll search the code to see how it works, but I figure this is enough up-front work to start a ticket.

If it's not supported, consider this a feature request. Either way it would be nice if the documentation could cover this.

Research direction

Start by tracing TLS certificate verification and the existing command-line and GUI configuration paths mentioned in the issue. Done means private certificate authorities can be trusted through a supported mechanism, with the relevant usage documented; clarify the intended behavior before changing code.
