Description

I've been looking into what a implementation of the WhatsApp source would look like and it lookslike Meta has blocked general purpose aAI chatbots from using their business api.

https://techcrunch.com/2025/10/18/whatssapp-changes-its-terms-to-bar-general-purpose-chatbots-from-its-platform

The workaround is to use a unofficial protocol library like github.com/WhiskeySockets/Baileys
I would be interested in looking further into this if the team doesn't think this is a deal breaker?

Research direction

Start with issue #418 and the linked Baileys library, then assess how a WhatsApp source could fit this Rust repository and whether the unofficial protocol is acceptable under Meta's stated restrictions. Done would require an agreed implementation scope and feasibility decision; the issue currently names no files, tests, or entry point.
