npm source install needs running tests

Thank for taking the time to fill this feature request fully. Without it we may not be able to , and the issue may be closed without resolution.

The tests to verify the npm source install are not being run in the pipeline. Possibly just an oversight. The npm_source suite probably tests the install.

Get the tests running and working. Separate them from the nodejs source tests if possible.
