Description

Nice tool!

However, in https://tools.simonwillison.net/llm-cliche-highlighter, when pasting in a text, no highlighting happens on the duplicate below, unless the text is more or less identical to the example text. Pasting my own text inside of the example text, renders as "X words hidden", or as plain text without marking the obvious AI patterns.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue at https://tools.simonwillison.net/llm-cliche-highlighter with text that differs from the example, then inspect the tool's pasted-text input and duplicate highlighting behavior. Done means pasted text is highlighted correctly, including when it differs substantially from the example, without breaking the existing example behavior.
