Description

We have two configuration languages right now:

  • llm -f issue:https://github.com/simonw/llm/issues/987 for fragment and template loaders
  • llm -T 'Datasette("https://...")' for Toolboxes

I am considering making the latter form available for fragments as well:

llm -f "issue("https://github.com/simonw/llm/issues/987")`

The main goal is consistency, but the parentheses version is also better if you want to pass additional options.

Research direction

Start by comparing the command-line -f handling for fragment and template loaders with the -T Toolbox syntax. Implement the proposed parentheses form for fragments while preserving the existing fragment:name form, and verify that fragment-specific options can be passed through the new syntax.
