Description

I haven't done this with any of my other datasette publish tools, but I do think it's a good idea. Being able to publish the entire directory - with templates and plugins and metadata - does seem very useful to me.

Research direction

The issue names the datasette publish provider . command and configuration directory mode, but provides no files or tests. Start by locating the publish command and its existing directory-mode handling, then compare provider behavior. Done means a whole directory can be published with its templates, plugins, and metadata.
