Description

There is (understandable) confusion about how to make best use of threads. The whole point of asynchronous paradigms is not to use threads. But when performing blocking I/O (which our hardware control and file operations necessarily must do), threads are necessary. It's reasonable to have a section of our documentation devoted to this, targeting "core developers".
