Currently this tests the default location against all variations; it should order the variations and check higher order interpolations.

Research direction
Start with Lib/fontTools/varLib/interpolatable.py at the linked lines and read how the current default-location checks handle variations. Determine how higher-order interpolations should be ordered and checked; done means second-order interpolation is covered by the checker without regressing the existing variation checks.
