Footnote missalignment in 2.7.35

Description
This may well be related to an issue of a paragraph being slightly misaligned on a page when the preceding paragraph ended in a footnote and cross-reference. Just looking at the following page, when there is a cross-reference following footnotes, the note is alighing on the last line, but when there are just footnotes, they are aligning on the bottom of the page (which is not the bottom of the last line) as can be seen here:
