Gallery exits folder after app context switch

Bug description

Steps to reproduce:

1. In a chat, press the plus button
2. Click on gallery
3. Open on a folder, such as "all files"
4. Switch to a different app or to the homescreen, and then back to Signal

Expected results:

• The selected folder is kept open

Actual results:

• The selected folder is closed and Signal reverts back to the main gallery screen. This is true even if I have selected photo(s) to attach (these selections are saved).

Additional context:
I usually come across this issue when I'm sending multiple photos to someone, such as when I'm selecting a few of the best ones after a trip or an event. I frequently switch between Signal and my photos app in order to see the photos properly (rather than just the grid preview), zoom in on them, etc. Currently, Signal closes the folder I have open (camera, all files) every time I go back to my photos app, which is quite annoying and makes the process take much longer than it should.

Comparison with other apps:
I've tested this on a few different messaging apps, and Signal is unique in closing the currently open folder. This behaviour doesn't happen on WhatsApp, Messenger, Google Messages, or Discord (uses the system file picked). It also doesn't happen on the iOS Signal app, which keeps the current folder (under Collections) and other options open.

Reproduce the issue in Signal 8.16.1 on a Pixel 7 running Android 17 by opening a gallery folder from a chat, switching apps, and returning to Signal. Trace the gallery state across the app context switch; done means the selected folder remains open while any selected photos stay selected.
