Description

Feature

The docs for provisioning Talos Linux on Proxmox need updating to ensure Cloud Server and then No Cloud is selected and not Bare-metal Machine..

Image

Description

When installing Talos Linux on Proxmox and selecting Bare Metal (and adding qemu extension) as per existing docs, the qemu service fails to start.

As well as small things like the current network info not being reported, this has several knock-on effects such as when provisioning Talos on Proxmox via Terraform - the provider will timeout during plan/apply as cannot get network information and shutdown is problematic.

Use of bare-metal images did work when I last deployed a Talos cluster from scratch with v1.9.5 - so not sure what's changed since then (definitely lots!) - but regardless, selecting the correct option from the start is the right way.
