Description

In 26.2, after disabling / enabling a Bluetooth device in Windows settings, voice does not work.
There was a workaround - after disabling / enabling voice in SL, voice does work, so there is no need to relog.

In 26.3, after enabling a Bluetooth device in Windows, the viewer must be restarted to use the Bluetooth device.

Reproduction steps
  1. Ensure your Bluetooth audio device (Airpods or equivalent) is disabled in Windows.
  2. Log into the viewer.
  3. Enable your Bluetooth audio device in Windows. (Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices > Audio category, and click the Connect button next to the Bluetooth device)
  4. Engage the Speak button in the viewer and test the mic
  5. No audio is transmitted.
  6. Disable / enable Voice Chat in Second Life Preferences > Sound & Media
  7. Engage the Speak button in the viewer and test the mic

Observed: No audio is transmitted.

Expected: Audio would be transmitted.

Workaround: Relog the viewer to use the Bluetooth audio device in Second Life

Note: In 26.2.0.25386466510, the workaround in step 6 would allow audio to be transmitted. That workaround no longer works in 26.3.0.31203661088.

Research direction

Reproduce the Bluetooth device enablement sequence on Windows using the listed viewer version, then trace the viewer's voice and audio-device handling around Voice Chat preferences. Verify the fix by enabling the device after login and confirming that microphone audio works without disabling Voice Chat or relogging.
