Description
Possible without breakage:
- add e.g. a counts layer to pbmc68k_reduced, as its .raw has the same number of genes and is therefore superflous)
breakage
- remove old stuff (e.g. .raw)
- sparse arrays
- nondeterministic obs_names (to enable UUIDs in the future)

Research direction
Start by locating the definition and generation of the pbmc68k_reduced dataset, then inspect how its .raw data is represented. Clarify which non-breaking change is intended, such as adding a counts layer, and which listed breaking changes are in scope. Done should reflect an agreed modernization plan without unintended breakage.
