Hi,
I would like to be able to group the genes by expression pattern in the dotplot. I see there is the dendogram parameter but it only groups the category given in groupby, would it be possible to also group what is passed in var_names? That would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Llucia

Research direction

Start at scanpy.pl.dotplot() and inspect the existing dendogram parameter, especially how it groups categories from groupby. Determine how genes passed through var_names should be clustered by expression pattern, then verify that the resulting plot groups those genes while preserving the existing groupby behavior.
