Description

Does the project formally use semantic versioning?

I saw the HISTORY.rst mentions a breaking change for the jump from 0.7.6 to 1.0.0, wanted to know for sure if that is the case.

If the project does use this, might it be useful to add this information somewhere in the README.md or CONTRIBUTING.md docs?

Thank you!

Research direction

Read HISTORY.rst to verify whether the 0.7.6-to-1.0.0 change reflects semantic versioning, then review README.md and CONTRIBUTING.md for an appropriate location. The work is done when the versioning policy is confirmed and documented, or the question is resolved by project maintainers.
