Reach feature parity and reasonable stability by end of year 2025
26.0 announce a public beta and include QTFred in release package as it isn't currently. Ask devs to stress test but not do critical work.
26.1/27.0 Assuming no major problems, Retire old FRED and update Knossos to point to QTFred by default.
- [x] Add QtFred builds to release scripts by end of year 2025 (see #3401)
- [x] Pre-alpha developer tests starting in January 2026
- [x] Nightly Alpha/Beta testing Phase, post 26.0
- [ ] Initial release in FSO 26.2.0/27.0.0
