Description

Quite a few people are getting confused by the "profile keeps all connected installs in sync" behavior kicking in on installs they haven't used for a long time.

I don't think it makes sense for someone to intentionally use an outdated install and a modern install with the same profile, so this warning message could help avoid the confusion.

Maybe a dedicated pop-up?

Probably connect with #298's visualization.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the profile synchronization behavior described here and the visualization proposed in issue #298. Determine how to identify profiles connected to installs with different CLs and decide what warning presentation is appropriate. Done means the mismatch is clearly surfaced to users without relying on them to notice synchronization changes.
