Description
Use case: devel gets early support for an alpha version of a dependency. The same dependency gets multiple alphas and follow-up fixes. The backport needs to include all of those together.
UX: unclear.

Research direction
Start with the stated devel and multiple-alpha backporting use case, then clarify the missing UX requirements for PR stacks. No files, tests, or entry points are identified, so the first milestone is an agreed behavior and implementation scope; done should mean the stack backport workflow is specified clearly enough to implement and verify.
