Description
I see following cmment "Per default the container is configured to run gitlab as user and group git with uid and gid 1000. " in README.md, but it is root actually when in container runtime, so how to run the docker with unprivilege access?

Research direction
Start by comparing the README.md statement about the git user and group with the container's actual runtime user. Reproduce the reported root execution and determine what documentation or container configuration change is needed for unprivileged access; done means the behavior and README.md agree.
