Hi
I found a couple of my minions not answering test.ping from salt-master. Same test.ping command works from minion.
This is a bug report with detail info to track this issue.

Setup
minion01 and salt01 are on same 3006.8 version.

  • [ x] on-prem machine
  • [ x] VM (Virtualbox, KVM, etc. please specify)
  • VM running on a cloud service, please be explicit and add details
  • container (Kubernetes, Docker, containerd, etc. please specify)
  • or a combination, please be explicit
  • jails if it is FreeBSD
  • classic packaging
  • [ x] onedir packaging
  • [ x] used bootstrap to install

Steps to Reproduce the behavior

salt01# salt minion01 test.ping --out=txt
minion01: Minion did not return. [Not connected]
ssh into minion01 to restart salt-minion 
salt minion01 test.ping  now works

Expected behavior

salt minion01 test.ping # works without restart salt-minion
