Research direction

Locate charRegex() and inspect every caller to understand why it is invoked per call. Compare repeated construction with module-scope reuse, checking the relevant TypeScript entry points and any existing performance checks. Done means the performance impact and safety of caching are established and the issue has a clear resolution.
