Research direction

The issue does not name files, tests, or an entry point. Start by locating the relay's TCP socket handling and the client connection path in the repository, then determine the WebSocket protocol and compatibility requirements. Done means clients can connect to the relay over WebSocket and the behavior is covered by appropriate tests.
