Description

During use, we discovered an issue: the data in GeoLite2-City.mmdb is not always accurate. We encountered cases where the IP addresses of our data center did not match their actual locations, which caused significant trouble for us.

Eventually, we came up with a temporary workaround: we manually added our data center IP addresses along with the correct latitude and longitude at the relay server configuration. This effectively resolved the issue.

Therefore, we suggest adding a feature in the relay management interface—or elsewhere—that allows IP calibration or manual location updates.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the relay server configuration and the relay management interface, the two locations mentioned in the issue. Determine where GeoLite2-City.mmdb results are used and how manual IP, latitude, and longitude overrides could be represented. Done means an administrator can save calibration data and relay location lookup uses it reliably.
