Description

seems like what I have here is a test case where join_multicast_v4 succeeds and join_multicast_v6 doesn't, it behaves differently depending on whether you're on MacOS, Linux or FreeBSD:

kinda stumped

Research direction

Start with the test case in the linked gist and reproduce join_multicast_v4 and join_multicast_v6 on macOS, Linux, and FreeBSD. Compare the platform-specific behavior and socket2's multicast APIs, then clarify the expected IPv6 behavior before defining what a fix should satisfy.
