Description
I see that rustfmt checks for a config file in $HOME/Library/Preferences/rustfmt. Does it also check in $HOME/.config/rustfmt? From my testing, it seems like it does not (assuming it's only on Linux that it does). If not, is there a chance that this could be supported? Thanks!

Research direction
Start by locating rustfmt's platform-specific configuration lookup and any related tests. Check how $HOME/Library/Preferences/rustfmt and $HOME/.config/rustfmt are handled on macOS, then verify the expected lookup behavior with tests or a local rustfmt run; done means the supported macOS path is clear and covered.
