Research direction
Start by reproducing the highlighting difference in rust-mode using the single-line and newline-separated println! examples from the issue. Inspect rust-mode's syntax-highlighting implementation and verify that interpolation is highlighted when a newline appears between the opening parenthesis and string; no test or source file is named in the issue.
