Description
While looking into https://github.com/rust-analyzer/rust-analyzer/issues/8905, I noticed that some rust-analyzer processes survived me closing VS Code and were still spinning in their loop. I would have expected the main loop to end when stdin is closed and terminate the process, regardless of whether a request hangs.

Research direction
Start by tracing rust-analyzer's server main loop and how stdin closure is handled while a request is still running. Reproduce the hanging-request scenario, then verify that closing stdin causes the process to terminate even when the request does not finish.
