Description

The "Show RA Version" VS Code command currently runs rust-analyzer --version (using the right server path), but the output of that is unrelated to the version of the running server, so it gets out of sync when the binary is replaced.

This could be fixed by implementing the command as a server command instead of spawning a process.

Research direction

Trace the VS Code “Show RA Version” command and the server-command handling it currently uses. Confirm how the running server exposes commands, then make the command report that server’s version instead of spawning rust-analyzer; done means the displayed version stays accurate after the binary is replaced.
