Description

The VSCode extension has a "Find matching brace" action that jumps to the matching brace. What I'd really love is a "Select to matching brace" action that selects rather than simply jumps.

If I already have a selection, it should extend the selection. Interestingly, "Find matching brace" already extends any existing selection (or rather, it leaves the selection anchor alone and moves the cursor). But this doesn't help if I don't have a selection yet and want to create one.

Research direction

Start by tracing the VSCode extension's existing "Find matching brace" action and how it handles an existing selection. Define the new action so it selects to the matching brace when no selection exists and extends the selection when one does; done means both behaviors work consistently.
