In python pexpect I use interact() method to achieve this.

Research direction

Start by reviewing rexpect's existing process and PTY interaction API, then compare its behavior with Python pexpect's interact() method. Define the supported terminal handoff behavior and verify that control can return to the user after connecting to a remote server.
