Description
It would be nice if the Travis CI reports warnings as errors and fails if a contributor isn't careful in this coding. This will help ensure high code quality.
From my preliminary search I found this https://gitlab.kitware.com/cmake/cmake/issues/17743, which isn't great news. However I have seen that Travis CI runs on Ubuntu so we may want to leverage platform specific GCC flags to enable this feature for now.

Research direction
Start by locating the Travis CI configuration and the CMake compilation entry point used on Ubuntu. Investigate platform-specific GCC flags that make compilation warnings fail the build, then verify that Travis reports failure when the tree emits warnings.
