Description

Even after using packrat::snapshot() and packrat::clean() (just for good measure, I know it does something else), packrat seems to like keeping old zipped sources in packrat/src/pkg/, like so:

archive

Is that intended behavior? Can I disable that?

Seems like with any kind of frequent development ,that would really blow up the size of the packrat repo ...

Research direction

Reproduce the behavior using packrat::snapshot() and packrat::clean(), then inspect the contents of packrat/src/pkg/. Determine whether retaining old zipped sources is intentional and whether the reported growth can be disabled; document the observed behavior and the supported configuration or cleanup result.
