Description
There's a fair amount of code devoted to "have we exec'd yet? if so, do X", where it would be simpler to say, "do X". I don't know yet why things are currently done the way they are; this may not be possible.

Research direction
Start by tracing the code paths that check whether the recorded program has exec'd after an rr fork, and identify why those checks currently gate later actions. Determine whether the conditional logic can safely be removed; done means establishing feasibility and documenting or implementing the required refactor.
