There are multiple places where timeouts are relevant, but target different backends:
- When calling the
quilccompiler https://github.com/rigetti/qcs-sdk-rust/pull/211 - When calling the QCS API, e.g. https://github.com/rigetti/qcs-sdk-rust/pull/235#discussion_r1086998614
Calls to the QCS API should have a default timeout, probably living on qcs::qpu::client::Qcs. This should be overridable per each individual API call.

Define the scope for API-call timeouts, including a default on Qcs and per-call overrides; the work is done when the relevant QCS API calls support both behaviors.
